This work wear trend in menswear has really got to go. We are excited to see less lumber jacks and more luxe looking men cruising about the city in their tailored blazers, colorful brogues and patterned pocket squares. So it is with much fanfare that we welcome Ankar into the fold of foppish fashion.

Based  in Sweden and designed by former Gant designer Niklas Ankar, the collection will be rolling out for spring 2012. We had took a look at the line at Soho House and met the man himself. Ankar (meaning Anchor in Swedish) has always loved tailored clothing. “My father took me to get my first blue blazer as a little boy,” he told us.

On a trip to India with his wife Niklas was inspired by all of the madras he saw and decided the time was right for his own collection. The clothes may be tailored but they are not meant to be precious. Niklas hopes men bring a couple of his pieces in their suitcase and mix and match instead of packing a steamer trunk worth of clothes. They are to be had fun in, to be enjoyed and to be worn often on weekends at the beach or in the boardroom.

We are also excited about the slippers and belts he has created out of furniture fabrics. Talk about working well in your environment. Can we send you a swatch from our drapes?
