We caught up backstage with designer Timo of Timo Weiland to learn that the prints in his collection were taken from photos that may or may not be UFO's, either way his collection was out of this world. Martyna of IMG Models who walked the runway in one of his spacey prints said "it's crazy red and purple, my favorite look this week!" Timo was excited to celebrate at the after party, he was heading to Electric Room in his own design of a cool bi-color solid flannel with a hoodie thrown over it.
Stylist Danielle Nachmani was styling her last show this week (after finishing Christian Siriano and Tanya Taylor) when we caught up backstage. This was her first time styling for both men and women in one show, "it was a totally different beast, ultimately it was the greatest challenge because the guy who wears Timo's clothes is definitely a guy I want to hang out with. He's got a really cool and effortless vibe. For the girl Timo went a little tougher route and I really related to her." She also had fun finishing off the looks with Timo's second-season foray into women's footwear, designing a five piece collection in collaboration with Tsubo.
L’Oréal Professionnel's hair stylist Joseph DiMaggio created a natural, lived in texture in a low ponytail. Timo's inspiration came from St. Mark's, so the girl was uber downtown cool, her hair styled as if she just got out of bed and went out on the street. My personal favorite mens hair moment was a rat tail braid, worn on the runway with a slightly shrunken blazer and mismatched trousers.
Manicurist Gina Edwards at Kate Ryan polished the models with a custom look using imPress Press-On Manicure by Broadway nails. She created a signature look of high shine with slightly rounded tips. "Timo's girl is edgy and downtown, she has an awareness of the nail art trend."
Timo is truly a designer's designer, Waris Ahluwalia and Erin Fetherston (with Cobra Starship beau Gabe Saporta in tow) were both in attendance. "I'm here to support my friend," said Waris and added that he hoped to see some more Timo Weiland trousers on the runway he could add to his wardrobe. Waris was stoked that Steven Kolb of the CFDA was wearing a cotton piece from House of Waris' new scarf collection. Erin finished her show the night before and admitted to being "a little exhausted" but was happy to have a night off and support her friend.
