Menswear needs a little jaunt of pizzazz sometimes and Marlon Gobel did just that this season with his collection titled, ‘The Heist’. So what’s that all about? “The idea is about men stealing the moment from others. Whether men are stealing diamonds or the moment, we need to be in the spotlight every once in a while.” he eagerly continued, “We are hosting our show across from Mercedes Benz Fashion Week to steal eight minutes from the big guys!”

Swarovski provided Gobel with some incredible elements to work with that resulted in  rock bow ties, equestrian appliqués and kevlar breast plates for the glamorous gangster. Speaking of, we spoke to Neil Moodie about hair and he referenced the Kray Twins. “They were famous gangsters in London’s East End in the 50’s and 60’s and were known for their dark, slicked back hair so we took Bumble & Bumble black powder and put it in with Bumble & Bumble gel and painted it on the hair. Dont worry it washes out easily!”

Lisa Aharon explained that with the makeup she was “trying to toughen up the boys so we are keeping skin really natural and leaving the dark circles if they have them! But filling in eyebrows, making them more straight across. We are darkening facial hair if they have it too so it is consistent with Neil’s hair schematic.”

Speaking of dark circles, do we spot them on model Danny Willcock? “Yes! Because I had a fitting at 2am! I was called out of a club for a fitting and had an hour of sleep. Its like Batman, when I see the signal I have to run. The girls at the club are none too pleased,” he sighed. Poor lamb. Next time he needs to sport one of Gobel’s attention getting suits and  leave his phone in coat check.
