paris: the colette carnaval, celebrating 15 years

Where in the world can you find a carnival with a Carven ball toss, hip hop dance classes, a beard shaving station, Berko cupcakes, and custom tattoos by Scott Campbell? Only in Paris. And only by Colette.

To celebrate the iconic Paris shop's 15th anniversary, nearly 20,000 people over two days passed through a tent set up in the middle of the Jardin des Tuileries for a jam-packed weekend of arts & crafts, atypical (delicious) carnival eats, chart-topping musicians, Nike basketball tournaments, and designer prizes galore.

This carnival has now, hands down, set the bar for celebrations to come. There was something for everyone- from toddlers getting their faces painted, to adults nibbling on Thomieux or Le Camion Qui Fume.  Various brands represented in creative ways, like Repetto, the classic ballet slipper company, who held a dance class for kids ages 8-10 yesterday.

Overall, the weekend was a blast, and I wish we could celebrate like this every weekend.

Happy Birthday Colette!
