Filled with the life and energy she puts into her work, make-up artist, Stephanie Flor is the one to watch.  At 18, she proved that her passion was more than just a  teenage dream when she began working on high-end productions and feature films in California’s City of Angels.  Since then  her climb into the world of make-up artistry has been nothing short of successful. With a clientele list that includes celebrities such as Mariah Carey, international politicians such as the Presidents of Israel and Mexico and featured work in publications such as NYLON, Glamour and Oprah’s O Magazine there’s no telling where else this flower might bloom. Here we talk about getting lost, borders and dipping into the mind.

What color is inspiring you the most now?

At the moment, I’m in love with pastel orange – not too bright ,just muted in color.

Where or how will you feature these discoveries in your work?

I will feature it in lip focused editorials and creating images with soft makeup and a pop of color. Hairstylists are also playing with color in hair I’ll use that on set for inspiration.

What is the story behind this color and what inspired you to start using it ?

I already loved wearing bright lip colors, yet one day by mistake I mixed in a baby pink into my lipstick which turned the orange into a lighter shade. I was instantly in love with the soft hue it created.

Where do you look for inspiration?

I look at the colors in nature. I can always find new idea concepts by getting lost in my own city, the endlessly inspiring NYC. I also look at peer artists and people whose work who I admire.

When you have “ artists” block how do you get your creative juices flowing?

I love to read books about tribes and cultural beauty traditions. I’m really big into dipping into the mind  and thinking outside of your own borders by  turning to different places around the world for inspiration.

Editorial or Runway ?  Why?

I love editorial, because you can always grow from seeing your work on something physical long term.

Any beauty tips?

Always moisturize, and wear makeup to bring out your best features.
