I have to admit, I grew up with abundant Armani in the air of the 80’s. I never could gel with it, too minimal, I’m Southern! But recently I have been taking another look at this iconic label. Yes, it’s true, Lady Gaga certainly peaked my interest as has all the Armani Prive on the red carpet. So I was looking forward to entering the newly revamped Giorgio Armani store on Madison Avenue during fashion week to see what the next reincarnation would look like.
Holy rock crystal! Hallelujah for stainless steel! Marmorino Magic! This renovation had me and my photographer in quite the spin out. The 1930’s feel of the dueling salons on either side of the entrance was cozy and terribly glamorous. The stainless steel cabinetry with beadwork bamboo under glass was oh so Syrie Maugham.
Every floor has it’s own feel yet it is all quite cozy since the entire place is decked in Armani Casa kaboodle from carpets, rugs, furniture and fixtures. There are even Armani bathrooms yet to be available in the States. Of course the clothes and accessories are the real show stoppers. The shoe salon, Men’s Made-to-Measure and Armani Prive jewelry collection are exquisitely laid out. While we were there a glorious Park Avenue Dowager was there in her oh so high hair with daughter buying up loads of looks for the upcoming season.
Go, go, go and experience the subtle elegance of this bastion of beauty. And don’t forget to use the loo.
