Lady Gaga Forms Massive Multimillion Dollar Partnership with Armani

Gaga will leave no stone unturned. The songstress and Armani have formed a massive multimillion dollar partnership that will involve the legendary designer making the costumes for Gaga's tour in December.

"A huge company like Armani has the duty to always be alert to trends and what appeals to young people," says Roberta Armani, Mr. Armani's niece and head of VIP relations. "It helped to see how the world is through Lady Gaga, the way she uses Facebook and Twitter." Although there is still very little information on what the collaboration entails, but perhaps something similar to the Roberto Cavalli/Spice Girls collaboration for their reunion tour?

Gaga is the very first musician that Armani has designed a specific gown for. All celebrities prior have chosen from existing collections.

"It wouldn't be possible to [just] give Gaga a look from the collection because she wears pieces of art. It's theatrical," Roberta told the Wall Street Journal.

Sure, if you like being able to make a burger out of your eveningwear.

This will be a great creative outlet for Armani to design some out-of-the-box pieces.

Agreed, it's amazing to see what designers are capable of doing when they don't have to worry about whether it will sell. It really goes back to the idea of fashion as art.

That said, it's a little surprising to see Lady Gaga pairing up with such a mainstream household name like Armani -- it would have been cool to put an emerging designer in the spotlight like that. Still, I'm excited to see what they come up with together.

I want to see what this will look like in the end. I agree Jill, it would have been great to give this wonderful opportunity to a lesser known designer with talent, etc. I'm still waiting to see what designs she wears next..... :)

This would be a dream come true for any designer I'm sure.  I do agree with Jill as well.  I am surprised too by the fact that Gaga chose a mainstream name like Armani.  But then again her music is extremely mainstream.  A fabulous opportunity nonetheless!

I think this will be a very successful collaboration. I agree, instead of designing a piece that someone would practically wear GaGa insists on wearing fashion as a piece of art and I am excited to see what pieces Armani will come up with. We already know a meat dress is out.
