US Open Fashion

If you thought that the US Open was a sporting event, you were desperately wrong. The most powerful women in tennis today have proven that they aren’t just extremely athletic and toned. They are feminine and love to show off their own styles! Jelena Jankovic, Maria Sharapova, and Venus Williams are three of the sport’s stars that have released their own fashion lines. Venus’ clothing line, EleVen, has been in circulation for three years now and still offers affordable and fun tennis outfits that could even be worn on the street (if you so choose/dare). The line’s success is no surprise considering that the Williams sisters have been shocking tennis fans for years with their hot – and sometimes scandalous – outfits. Most notably, Venus appeared at the French Open this year in a tennis dress that looked more like a lacy lingerie piece, and today at the US Open she sported a barely-there slitted black skirt with a skimpy halter. Some may argue that tennis is a spectator sport, not a Victoria’s Secret catwalk. However, who said you have to give up your femininity in order to be a professional athlete?
