Fashion is an art form, and no one demonstrates this better than fine art curator Stacy Engman.  After shaking up famously elite National Arts Club as the chief curator of the newly established Contemporary Arts Division, Engman has proven that she is not afraid to make a statement. Known for her over-the-top ensembles, from Philip Treacy hats down to her Alexander McQueen heels, Engman has even created her own “personal mark.” Inspired by the “Sheela Na Gig,” the pagan symbol of a gargoyle who used her genitalia to ward off evil spirits, Engman’s mark can be found on everything from her jewelry to her luggage and clothing. Not only does Engman’s style take inspiration from art, but her work with art is also influenced by fashion: for this month’s exhibition at the National Arts Club, Contemporary Magic: A Tarot Deck Art Project, Engman commissioned such notable designers as Marc Jacobs, Karl Lagerfeld, Vivienne Westwood, and Christian Louboutin. With such a refreshingly creative approach to style, Stacy Engman demonstrates that fashion is simply wearable art.
