Kate Moss' Latest Cover? Bryan Ferry's Album
Supermodel Kate Moss likes to flirt with rock 'n' roll. She's contributed vocals to songs by Primal Scream, The Lemonheads, and Babyshambles--lest we forget her relationship with professional trainwreck Pete Doherty (she's since settled down with the Kills' Jamie Hince).
Now the quintessential waif is taking another stab at the music world--posing provocatively for the cover of Bryan Ferry's new album, Olympia. The 36-year-old supermodel (and Lookbooks fave) languidly reclines on a bed, wearing little more than red lipstick, a diamond necklace, and an artfully placed bedsheet. In a recent interview, Ferry said that Olympia's cover was inspired by an Édouard Manet painting of the same name, which he calls an "early pin-up."
Ferry, the legendary frontman of Roxy Music--and a sartorial icon himself--is no stranger to models; countless beauties, from disco queen Amanda Lear and Playmate of the Year Marilyn Cole to former fiancée Jerry Hall (who swiftly moved on to Mick Jagger), have posed for some seriously sexy Roxy covers over the years. But for Ferry, Kate was something different. "Kate has long been the femme fatale of our age, as controversial as she is beautiful, and the most glamorous icon since Marilyn Monroe." Fittingly, no expense was spared for Kate's lavish shoot, as Ferry, photographer Adam Whitehead, and designer Gideon Ponte made sure everything was perfect for the catwalk queen. "Gideon Ponte built a glamorous set with the finest linen and the perfect bed. Shoes and dresses were flown in from Paris, jewelry escorted by security guards, flowers were everywhere and we had a supporting cast of thousands."
Well, our favorite supermodels deserve nothing but the best, and it definitely seems to have paid off; Kate is vampy pin-up perfection.
