Matthew Williamson was all about textures and feminine tailoring for his spring 2011 collection. Like many designers this season, he is taking the optimistic route with exotic dresses that are perfect to wear poolside.
"My storyboard is a girl marooned on a deserted island," he said. "She has her Western wardrobe, and over time she becomes one with nature, picking up organic textures and materials." Strangely enough, Williamson does pull-off his outlandish inspiration, which makes for an unpredictable show. Everything from highly structured, gladiator dresses with brazen appliqués to pastel maxi dresses. Sienna Miller and Olivia Palermo were a couple of the celebs there to witness Williamson's classic, stylistic trademarks make their way down the runway.
